I've been working part time on and off with a local computer school for the past month or so. Working hours are great, the pay is slightly above average and I have fun executing the jobscope given to me. The best part is, it is the least stressful job I ever have.
Recalling the process of accepting a particular contract, makes me feel like a mercenary. The whole calling up and describing the job phone conversation, negotiating for the pay and all, its as if you were hired to kill somebody. lolx.
(Phone rings. Picks up the phone and listens.)
"Hello? This is LOREM IPSUM from ABC PTE LTD."
"Speak."
"I need your services for the whole of next week. Mon-Fri, 0800 to 1400hrs. Can you make it?"
"What's the pay?"
"Its good money. You interested?"
"Email me the details. I'll be waiting." (puts down phone)
Its so professional I tell you. She'll (the HR personnel) be like offering you a contract, tells you the most important stuff like the hours you need to do, the objective and the pay over the phone. All other details like where to report will be given via email. And I need not even see her to get my pay. How cool is that?
Tomorrow will be the last day as stated in my contract. A good 3 hours and I've fulfilled my 2nd contract with the company. Until then, I'll be waiting for the call. 24/7.
