Life in SP, Life in NTU, A Comparison

Well... Well... Mr Wise Guy's first day of school was yesterday, so how did it go? From my two days as an undergraduate, here are my thoughts.

First glance, life in NTU (Nanyang Technological University) isn't much of a diff as compared to SP (Singapore Polytechnic). You can choose to skip lectures if you hate attending them, while attendance at tutorials and labs are crucial to your survival. Canteen food suck big time, the computer labs are always full, school emails are a must check everyday, and the library is like a big shopping mall with lots of people inside. Sounds familiar? Yeap, I believe most Polytechnic students would agree with me on all the points (other than packed libraries) I've given above.

There are differences though. Even though they're not quite a mega huge one, it is of such significance that if you can't adjust to them, you'll probably screw up your academics. Like for instance, planning your time table. If you have no idea you're supposed to plan your time table, you're screwed. And if you do not realise that you can take an elective this semester, then you'll lose out (like me, who end up taking 2 modules now, when I'm SUPPOSED to take them next sem due to exemptions).

One word of advice though. When you're feeling down, blue, and lonely, try to speak up and find friends. Be optimistic and do not give up. You'll soon find yourself adjusting to uni life slowly but surely.
