Love Thy Pillion.

OH MY, OH MY, OH MY, GOD.

With only 1 more day before my very first paper, I'm starting to feel the heat! My neck muscles are tense, my arms are cramping up and even Coco doesn't come into the room anymore. Hahah! I am so mentally unstable at the moment. It feels like I'm gonna implode. Oh wait... Is it something else?

Ahhhhhhhhh...

Did you sense a change in the atmosphere? heeehee! I just farted.

Bike conversations with this particular friend always bring scary thoughts into mind. Today, the topic just happened to be 'speeding.' We were sharing our riding experiences, from riding in heavy rain, to getting struck by lightning, to pontianaks as pillions and how to avoid the urge to speed and stuff. Of which the strongest reason I find so far, is to not speed because of love.

The love for your pillion, should prevent you from speeding. Come on, I'd bet 90% of your pillions are loved ones. Mothers, fathers, girlfriends, partners, brothers, sisters, cousins, best friends. Before you revv the throttle, give a thought about the fact that you are on two wheels instead of four. That you need momentum to balance. Your pillion will have poor situational awareness and cannot react in time. And last but not least, always remember that life is easy to give, and easy to take away.

Just a few days back, I nearly fell from my bike while trying to make a U-turn. I was going very slowly, but because I was doing it on an uphill slope, I lost my balance and the bike just tipped to one side. I immediately put down both my legs and managed to keep the bike upright. I had a pillion at that time and fortunately there were no injuries. I felt so bad, all I wanted to do was to hug my pillion and say I'm sorry with all my heart. I have the mentality that pillions have entrusted their lives into your hands, and you should do whatever you can to keep them safe. And I had to pay for my mistake with a very sore left thigh.

Lesson Learnt: The bike behaves VERY differently when you have a pillion with you.

I don't mind if its me who suffer for my mistakes. Just don't let it be a loved one.

Sometimes, these mistakes are just reminders from God to show that we are weak, we make mistakes and that we should treasure the ones around us. Once in a while, when we manage to pull through an event where our life just flashed before us, and escape unscathed, it always brings about a moment where we 'insaf.'

As much as I love riding, bringing loved ones to places and exploring new grounds, I wish it was much safer.

Lesson Learnt: Work hard, study smart, get a car.

If you think driving a car is thrilling, you should experience a banking turn at 100km/h. SIMPLY ORGASMIC.

Ride safe everyone!
