Change is the Only Constant.

I have been in Singapore for close to a week now. The most significant thing I notice upon landing was the relatively cool weather here. Having been subjected to scorching desert temperatures at Jodhpur/Jaisalmer/Bikaner, and ultra humid New Delhi, it felt great knowing that hey, Singapore is not as bad as I originally thought. Thereafter, came the 'getting-to-know-my-home-once-again' part where I find everything about Singapore, truly positive. From the clean and green roads, to the organised traffic, and finally getting the nod for being a 'Food Paradise.' More on that in a later post.

The quote “change is the only constant,” attributed to Greek philosopher Heraclitus practically sums up my whole homecoming experience. There's the Resort World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands which opened when I was away, 313@Somerset, my cousin's wedding, a close friend of mine signing on with the Singapore Police Force, and many other events that altered my day-to-day living in this garden city. Death, however dreadful, still happens in the family. As the same goes with sickness. New members eventually come in to replace the ones who left, bringing along joy and laughter to the family.

Indeed, change is beautiful.

Some things however do not change. The responsibilities that I shoulder as a national serviceman awaits, as the same goes to being a student. There is no escaping this reality, and the brief 6 months that I was away from them made recollections difficult. Somehow one way or another, it has to be settled. As a child of Singapore, I need to give some time for NS. As a child of NTU, I have to arrange my Final Year Project.

And alas I realised, these are just the baby steps that I take in the path towards adulthood...
