Honda Wave Chain 14/36

In a motorcycle, the sprockets and chain transfer the rotational movements from the engine, to the wheels. Without it, a motorcycle engine does no useful work other than behave as a very inefficient feet warmer. I changed mine as recently as about half a year ago, and now got it changed again. It is no surprise really, as the sprockets were previously of non-default sizes.

The original sprocket setting for the Honda Wave 125CC is 14/36, but because of the lack of spare parts and such, it was changed to 14/35. Here's a nice closeup of the sprocket.

The teeth in the sprockets are skewed slightly, showing signs of stress in the anti-clockwise direction. And it didn't help either that I was not bothered to oil the chains and sprockets. Chains got rusty, more effort was needed to turn the wheels, and the sprockets suffered as a consequence. There are other factors too, but I shall not bore you guys with the specifics.

Thankfully, our Malaysian neighbours changed the sprocket AND chain for RM65.
