I love freewares. I love it so much that most of the software I run are freewares. Antivirus? There's Grisoft. Firewall? There's Zonealarm. Office? There's OpenOffice. Music? There's iTunes! Heeee.... I am such a sucker for freewares.
Recently, I got invited to join the Norton Inner Circle and on the 3rd March, they had this gathering of sorts at The Swissotel The Stamford. A posh makan + discussion event held to forge closer ties between the guys at Norton, and the Consumers. And with membership to the Norton Inner Circle, comes, free software!
And I just collected my free NORTON 360. Version 3! Along with a year's subscription. wooohoo! Got it installed today, and boy, it is a HUGE difference than the NORTON 360 I saw a few years back. I'm sure you guys hated the NORTON 360 back then. I remembered back in the polytechnic that I had to uninstall NORTON 360 in order to solve a friend's complaint about her slow computer. But now, it runs faster, uses less memory and is fast fast fast! And no, I am not paid to say this. lolx!
Before you can install NORTON 360, you have to uninstall your previous Anti-Virus and Firewall softwares though. This might be scary because while you are installing NORTON 360, your computer is not protected and I had no choice but to disable my wireless connection.
The only complaint that I have about this software, is that its too wordy. They should have icons or graphical buttons that describes the purpose of a function, instead of just plain words. Like for example, the function "Disk Optimization" could be explained with a button, with a picture of a hard disk in the foreground and a speedometer as the background. That'll be nicer on the eyes I guess. Definitely more appealing than the plain text "Run Disk Optimization."
Otherwise, the NORTON 360 is a must-have firewall + anti-virus + PC TUNEUP kit.
