We went touring around Pune today and one of the stops was the Pune Zoo. It is kinda odd to visit a zoo in another country when I get to visit the Singapore Zoological Gardens for free nearly every other year. And the world knows that the Singapore Zoological Gardens is one of the best zoos in the world.
And Pune Zoo is nothing like the Singapore Zoo... =)
The entrance is enough to create an impression for what is to be expected later. Unfortunately, the zoo was about to close when we arrived, and we managed to see only a few animals, such as the deer, sloth bear, deers, white tiger and a porcupine. heh. I can't say much about the zoo because we were in it for only about an hour. But it was worth visiting it, and I definitely cherish the zoo that I have back in Singapore.
Before you scroll down any more, I would like to dedicate this bit to my ma who might be contemplating whether the zoo is a place to visit here in Pune. The thing is, ma is very particular about cleanliness and she always has a thing or two to say about toilets.
So, I've got the Pune Zoo's toilets on my cammy. Let's just let the pictures do the talking ya.
I initially thought that the toilet was under construction or renovation as everything was so dirty. The sink had its faucet removed, the floor was dirty, the urinals had no working water pipes connected and it smells like a hundred elephants had pee-ed in it. heeeeheee~
Alright guys, that's all for today. I'd love to go into details, but time is short, and I gotta wake up at 6am tomorrow for some trekking. Mr Wise Guy, signing out!

THAT'S A PUBLIC TOILET??? Can puke one! hehehe :D
I find it amazing that a country with such a toilet can have the ability to build a range of super missiles and nucluear weapons to boot!
Clearly a wrong priority. Give me my country anytime! :)
fussy @home toilet :)...but i can adapt easily, as long as i've wet tissue...alot!!!and perfume spray
the zoo, its not that bad as long as the animals are well taken care..only the toilet..that i've to reconsider about going there...:)not fussy, just not use to...
Wak Yana,
Yeap it is! Its a public toilet! hehe. The lecturer pointed out something about India today, being a Land of Contradictions, but I'll blog about that on another day kies.
Anyway, I am soooo glad we have the Singapore Zoo.
Anonymous,
I agree with you that the zoo is not that bad and the animals are well taken care of. But what it is lacking is perhaps the finer details that make up the zoo such as the toilet, and other amenities that make up the zoo experience.
And if one is fussy about the toilet, it will be very difficult to enjoy the richness of the culture in India. :)
I can think of one more point to compare Pune zoo with Singapore zoo: the entry ticket of Singapore zoo is S$18 while that of Pune zoo is even less than S$1.
