It was a great weekend, really. Andrew and Ashish landed in Nashik yesterday, and it is always great to have friends visit us in the sleepy town of Nashik. Andrew reached our place in the afternoon riding pillion on Ashish's bike. Alhamdulillah both were okay except for the part where they ride in the blistering sun for the remaining hour of their journey. Andrew looked like someone smeared charcoal on his face no thanks to the dust.
It was great seeing the funny guy. Never fails to bring cheer and laughter to the group and even though it has only been an hour since he left, we're already starting to miss him. He should be somewhere along the Nashik - Pune highway now.
Andrew was alive and kicking even after the five hour butt numbing bike ride. He was unusually hyper and didn't want to rest, not for one bit. So off we head off to the most happening place on Earth, College Road. And a College Road trip would not be complete with our weekly fix of MacDonald's! Yey! Sat at the exact same place as the time Farah and Jamuna visited, with each of us sitting at the exact same seats. haiz. dejavu at its best. Didn't do much except to look see at all the shops. Adidas has ended their sale and DAMN, I missed out on a good deal on their sweaters.
Anyways, since Nashik is popular for their vineyards and wine, we decided to pay a visit to Sula Vineyard. It was a twenty minutes ride, and the vineyard is thirty acres big! Huge or what...
There was to be Sulafest, but the entrance fee is at INR 700! 700 rupees or what! Its crazy la. So expensive. We didn't enter, but instead opted to stay out of the fest, and just opt for the tasting rooms. Oh, and I think Sula Vineyard is THE place for the rich and famous in Nashik. Ang Mohs, ATAS Indians, all pop out of nowhere and congregate over there. Fuiyo.
It has a nice atmosphere, very calm, serene, and friendly. And best of all, there is a mountain overlooking the vineyard, and it creates a breathtaking photo opportunity. Which explains the countless group shots as above. Spent about 2 hours or so there, and off we go, to our usual makan joint, Chines Cabana.
The ride to Chines Cabana was to be an unforgettable one. First and foremost, we had a burden and waited at the road side for a good half hour. Secondly, the wiring for the spark plug was disconnected, and me being me, fresh from my wiring harness study at work, pin pointed the problem to the Auto Guy while using my S90 red light to illuminate the engine.
And to make it worse, we ran out of petrol after that!!!! !@$#@^#@%&@&#&. I lost my cool at that moment and shouted "Dey Baiya, WHAT THE F***! First spark plug, now this??"
Of which he quickly said "Sorry Sorry!!! Dust in Engine nah... Sorry Sorry. Petrol nehi nah."
lol. I thought he could not understand me but he did! See! You need expletives to make them understand! Pissed + hungry + 5 people squeezed at the back in auto = MrWiseGuy blows up. Fortunately we were travelling in a convoy of 1 auto and 2 bikes. The bikes got the petrol, and we were soon on our way....
Chines Cabana (yes its spelt as Chines) is a yummy roadside stall to patronise. Food is good, price is cheap, atmosphere is priceless....
(STAY TUNED FOR PART 2)
