Like most men, toys are still fascinating and engaging. Although some take on much more masculine approaches that typically involve branded goods, big bikes and fast cars, happiness was found in the realm of computing.

Fun fact: The previous Pentium D 3.0GHz computer was a free gift from Starhub 5 years ago upon renewing the broadband contract. As it was a free gift, it was understandably an entry-level PC during THAT time. In 2011, it is a dinosaur. It was slow, it took 5 minutes to boot and youtube videos lag when its opened fullscreen. It came with 160GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and no graphics card. Much upgrading was done to keep it humming till mid-2011.

This time around, a computer was acquired after some intense research and what little money there is in the bank account. Honestly, this dream of building a new PC was evident since the beginning of university. And since the first week of school, research was done every other week just in case money dropped from the sky and the ability to afford a new computer becomes a reality. The habit was carried on until just recently and only God knows the extreme happiness when the day finally arrived.

So this is the new beast I bought with my hard-earned money.

Its the first time I bought a PC and specially choosing a chassis. The usual practice is to get the cheapest one and just slap the components in. The NZXT GAMMA is a real beauty and has very good cable management system in place. For more information, click here.

Ahhhhh, much happiness and inner peace has been found. Dad was as excited too and helped out with the assembly. Boy was he surprised to see stuff such as SATA3 and the gargantuan 6770. Poor man missed his bedtime as he was too engrossed! All in all, it was a nostalgic event. I remembered kpo-ing while he was busy assembling his first AMD Athlon/Duron and asking so many questions. Now the roles has been reversed. The tutor has now become the tutee.

So yeap! That rounds up this not so wordy post filled with lots of pictures. I have a fully functional PC to give away. No warranty or technical support will be given. Drop me an email/call/text if you are interested! You need to purchase a HDD and a DVD ROM drive on your own to run. I reckon those two costs about $80. More details here:

ECS-410M
300W PSU

You need to reside in Singapore and satisfy ONE of the following conditions (self-collect):
- Financial difficulty (Priority given to families with school going children)
- IT student looking for a PC to experiment with (Proof needed)
- $250 cash
