I've been very much in love with my bike ever since I got it. From day 1, it has been a loyal servant, a reliable mule and a very speedy scooter. Looks can be deceiving, but my Honda Wave has travelled some 3000+ km in 2 months without a single major breakdown. And today I just feel like boasting about its fuel consumption! Go Green Mr Wise Guy!
I started tracking my mileage after I heard my friend saying that his bike is economical. A full tank can go for 1 week he said. I was not impressed especially my Honda Wave could stick through one week and probably another if I don't go far. Heheh. And yeah, he advised that it could be because I didn't travel far. School and back, school and back... That made sense.
So I logged in my first odometer reading last 2 Mondays at 85341.3 after topping up 3.2 ltrs of Shell 98. Yeah... Shell rocks. I think they're like the most viral petrol company here in Singapore. Here in my area, I am within 1 kilometer radius from 2 Shell stations. How cool is that?
Anyways for your info, I ride to school and back, and there are the odd occassions where I go to Bugis or Orchard for shopping or food. 50% urban, 50% highway would be best on how my usage pattern is.
And just today, I logged my odometer at 85485.4 after topping up 3.0 litres of Shell 98. So if we do the math...
Distance Travelled
85485.4 - 85341.3 = 144.1 KM
Honda Wave Fuel Consumption (km/l)
144.1 / 3 = 48.03.km/l
Honda Wave Fuel Consumption is 48.03km per litre! For my bike at least.... eheheh! So, if you love the Earth, but still desperately need a mode of personal transport, get a Honda Wave and Gaia will thank you for it!

Hello Mr. Wise Guy,
Here's my results in 2011 for my Honda PCX that is one year old with about 10,000k on it:
mileage: 231 km 5 lt., 226 km 5 lt., 95/20% alcohol = 45.7 km per litre in 80/20 highway/city.
Not bad for an automatic transmission and a bigger bike! Does your Wave have fuel injection? Did the gas you used have alcohol or was it pure?
I enjoy your blog and can't wait to return to Singapore. So much history. So many beautiful women. So little time! :-)
Love your photo of the wheel stand kiss. Hope it was photoshopped!
Cheers!

Robert,
Thanks for dropping by! Honestly I've never heard of the Honda PCX but it looks like a fun bike to ride! :)
My Wave is the older, Wave 125S model but I believe there is a new Fuel injection model out in the market boasting greater fuel efficiency.
By the way, the wheel stand kiss is a photo by photographer Isabel Munoz. Click on the picture and it will bring you to see more of her work. :)
Singapore is just awesome. Food is good, and the roads are relatively safe to ride.
Interesting article ...
